Abstract Bananas (Musaceae) are one of the world's most common fruit crops and oldest medicinal plants that used to treat a variety infections. There has been recent interest in elucidating efficiency naturally active ingredients, particularly antimicrobials, this plant. This review begins with short background banana plant its cultivars as well brief description parts. Different experimental tests antimicrobial effects responsible bioactive compounds part extracts then elaborated. A evolving applications parts development functional bakery, dairy, beverage, meat products wheat substitute, fiber/prebiotic source, fat/sucrose natural antioxidant also discussed. Finally, challenges opportunities presented by different creating bio-packaging materials bactericidal nanoparticles addressed. contains substances, including dopamine, gentisic acid, ferulic lupeol, 3-carene. However, few studies have conducted on use bio-preservative food products; it should be seen source both agents. It offers potentially simple eco-friendly alternative antibacterial fungicidal agents rather than chemicals. Low cost, reliable methods for purifying these from waste could useful storage more value-added perishable goods.
